A Rainy C’Ville To-Do List

I don’t know if you’ve looked outside, but it’s raining. It’s raining so hard that even Grady won’t cross the threshold into the backyard. Yes, this is the same Grady who chews his own ears and swallows rocks whole, so I normally wouldn’t call him very picky. If you’re like me when it rains and your first reaction is to climb back into bed, you may need something fun to look forward to to keep the day going. Life [unfortunately?] goes on during a torrential downpour, so here are five things to do on this rainy Wednesday that might leave you feeling accomplished:

Check out a Sony ClassicVinegar Hill Theater is currently screening “Higher Ground,” a 2011 Sundance Film about spirituality and all its complexities. It doesn’t have the best critic reviews, but it also doesn’t have the worst.

Drink with Artsy PeoplePiedmont Council for the Arts is hosting its monthly “Art Drinks” event tonight at ZoCaLo at 5:30PM. Chat about art with artsy people, or just make some new friends. Stick around afterwards for a cheese plate and their Mezcal Old Fashioned, my current favorite drink in town.

Go Grocery Store Spelunking: Take a trip to the new Whole Foods with these coupons or a new recipe and go crazy! Stay for dinner – their prepared foods “section” covers 1/3 of the store and has something for everyone; or enjoy happy hour [4-7, $1 off wines and beers] before heading home.

Have Some Tea: Curl up on the couches at Tea Bazaar on the Downtown Mall with one of their adorable pots of tea. They have quite the tea menu, and I’m sure I drooled over their LEGENDARY hummus plate [“The Goat Herder”] on here before. There’s no show tonight, so it should be a nice, quiet evening.

Show Everyone How Smart You Are: C’Ville LOVES trivia night, and on Wednesdays there are two: Stop by Mellow Mushroom on The Corner, or Wild Wing Cafe at the Amtrak station at 9PM. Well, if you’re going to Mellow, better get there around 6:30 to secure a table.
