Mad Beets and a FREE GIVEAWAY!

I suppose “free giveaway” is pretty redundant. But it got your attention, no?

I have three samples of Coach’s Oats, which I tested and enjoyed, to give away to readers! Just send me a quick e-mail [] and tell me how you would prepare your free sample. I’ll pick the three winners at random later this week.

In other news: I dropped mad beets tonight. But not in a good way.

The roasted beets and carrots from yesterday,  plus an onion, apple, vegetable broth, and a secret spice blend festered on the stove for a bit like this:

Vegging out.

The beet, carrot & apple soup then went into the food processor, and was served with a head of roasted broccoli and a slice of toasted whole-grain bread.

Mad beets?

But unfortunately I’ve no recipe to share because this one needs some tweaking before it’s blog-worthy [and believe me, I was psyched to divulge the secret spice blend]. This was BEET SOUP …with other things sort of that were drowned out by the beet flavor. It was not the “Spiced Beet, Carrot & Apple Soup” I was going for.

You can’t even tell there was a beautiful bunch of farmer’s market carrots in there, and the onion and apple didn’t stand a chance. The secret spice blend lost the beet war, too. Consequently, this recipe is going back to the drawing board and the secrets will be revealed later.

Don’t forget to enter the free giveaway and submit your Grady guesses!

In other, other news, related to yesterday’s post and the TJ Center’s work, check out the latest, exceptionally ironic plot from the Westboro Baptist Church. One can only hope the Foo Fighters and Comic-Con-ers of the world will come through once again.
